
SAXUM Advances Basic Engineering for Alpha Lithium's Tolillar DLE Project
SAXUM is currently delivering Conceptual and Basic Engineering for Alpha Lithium's Tolillar DLE Project, located in Argentina's renowned Salar del Hombre Muerto. The project includes multidisciplinary engineering services for the process plant, infrastructure, and auxiliary facilities required to support the future development of this lithium operation.
The engineering focuses on transforming process definitions and operational requirements into a robust design basis that optimizes project development, reduces technical risk, and supports future investment decisions. SAXUM's integrated team of process, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation specialists is working collaboratively to ensure efficient coordination while incorporating safety, constructability, operability, and maintainability principles from the early design stages.
As part of the scope, SAXUM is also preparing capital cost estimates and project execution schedules using current market data, proprietary historical cost databases, and extensive experience gained from major mining and lithium developments across Argentina.
With more than 25 years of experience delivering engineering solutions for mining and lithium projects throughout Northwestern Argentina, SAXUM combines strong regional expertise with international technical support from Lycopodium. Independent design reviews by Lycopodium specialists help validate key engineering decisions and ensure the proposed solutions align with international best practices while addressing the unique challenges of lithium projects in the Argentine Puna.

Basic Engineering for CALCESUR's New 2,000 tpd Lime Production Plant
Cal & Cemento Sur S.A. (CALCESUR), part of the Gloria Group's Construction and Mining Solutions Division, is one of Peru's leading producers of quicklime, hydrated lime, and lime slurry. The company operates from its main production facilities in Caracoto, Puno, and serves mining and industrial customers throughout southern Peru.
SAXUM has been awarded the Basic Engineering for CALCESUR's new 2,000 tpd lime production plant, a greenfield project that will expand the company's production capacity and strengthen its supply to the mining and construction sectors.
The multidisciplinary engineering scope covers the process, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural disciplines. Key deliverables include the review of the existing conceptual engineering developed by third parties, mass balances, process flow diagrams, plot plans and general arrangements, Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for the civil, mechanical, and electrical works, and the complete electrical engineering design.
In addition, SAXUM is responsible for developing the project's CAPEX and OPEX estimates, providing reliable cost information to support investment decisions and project planning.
As part of the service, SAXUM will also prepare the technical tender documentation for the procurement of the main process equipment, establishing a solid engineering foundation for the successful execution of this important greenfield development.
By providing a comprehensive engineering package that combines technical expertise with practical project execution experience, this work will support CALCESUR in advancing the project with greater confidence, optimizing investment decisions, and preparing for the next stages of implementation.
SAXUM Supports the Pre-Feasibility Study for Unico Silver's Cerro León & Joaquín Projects
SAXUM is supporting Unico Silver Limited in the development of the Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) for the integrated Cerro León and Joaquín silver projects in Santa Cruz, Argentina. The study aims to define the optimal technical and economic configuration for the combined operation, covering mining, processing, infrastructure, environmental considerations, and life-of-mine planning.
The PFS commenced in January 2026, with SAXUM's scope including oversight and review of the metallurgical test work program, evaluation of process plant recovery methods, development of project infrastructure, and preparation of capital and operating cost estimates.
In addition, SAXUM has delivered strategic trade-off studies covering site logistics, energy supply, and infrastructure alternatives to support key project development decisions.
The PFS is scheduled for completion later in 2026 and is expected to support project advancement under Argentina's RIGI investment incentive framework. Through this engagement, SAXUM continues to provide multidisciplinary engineering expertise that helps mining clients optimize project value and reduce development risk during the early stages of project definition.
Extended Basic Engineering for Cementos San Marcos' New Clinker Production Line
Cementos San Marcos SAS BIC is a major cement producer based in Colombia, supplying high-quality cement products to support the country's growing construction and infrastructure sectors.
SAXUM has been awarded the Extended Basic Engineering for the company's new 1,500 tpd Clinker Line 2 expansion project in Cali, Colombia. The brownfield development will increase the plant's production capacity while integrating seamlessly with the existing facilities.
The multidisciplinary engineering scope covers the process, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural disciplines required to support the new production line. Key deliverables include mass balances, process flow diagrams, plot plans and general arrangements, an integrated 3D model of the process areas, and detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for the civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
In addition, SAXUM is responsible for the electrical engineering design, project capital cost estimation (CAPEX), and development of the overall project execution schedule.
As part of the service, SAXUM will also prepare the technical tender documentation for the procurement of the main process equipment and provide technical support throughout the bid evaluation and supplier selection process, helping ensure the successful execution of this important plant expansion.
By combining multidisciplinary engineering with detailed planning and procurement support, the project provides Cementos San Marcos with a solid technical foundation to successfully deliver its production expansion.
